The patented
EcoTrol
Fluid Control Center, ships preassembled, and provides system diagnostics and fluid control capability, incorporating the following components:
Air eliminator - constantly removes any air that may enter the system through pipe wall diffusion or otherwise.
Pressure tank - maintains fluid pressure and ensures replacement fluid for any air removed from the system
Pressure gauge - visually provides system diagnostics from a leak or similar problem, and allows for visual verification should excess air be removed from the system.

Temperature gauges - allow for visual readings of the loop’s in and out water flow, ensuring proper fluid flow rates and efficient operation of the heat pump unit.
Multiple speed pumps - allow for simple adjustment of ideal flow rate operating characteristics to increase efficiencies, and for high volume and flow for initial start up purging, as well as providing a “one size fits all” design approach to pumping fluid through the ground loop system.
Refill valve - allows for fluid sampling and easy addition of water to the system during start up, or recharging for future additions. Garden hose style connection simplifies installation and start up procedure.
Manufactured from one inch diameter polyethylene tubing, the trench header pipe is the central line that connects the various branch lines. It runs from the Fluid Control Center to the end of the excavation.
The trench header pipe is supplied in 100 foot lengths, which can be coupled together up to a maximum length of 400 feet. Each length is prefilled with BioGlycol™ and capped at each end.
The non-degradable field piping connections, with double locking compression fittings, provide major
EcoTrol advantages: a water tight connection for every installation, with no requirement for expensive fusion welding.
The ¾ inch diameter polyethylene pipe used for the branch lines is supplied in 250 foot lengths, weighing less than 50 pounds for ease of handling. These can be coupled together up to a maximum length of 750 feet.
The branches are connected to the trench header pipe, and provide the primary heat transfer between the earth and the home or building. Each length of loop pipe is prefilled with Bioglycol™ and capped at each end.
The
EcoTrol loop pipe has a higher heat transfer surface to fluid volume ratio than other products. The loop pipe is installed in longer lengths than industry average, which increases the energy efficiency of the geothermal heat pump.
