Do you know the role of water reducers? Is it to reduce the amount of water or to reduce the amount of cement? Water reducers are categorized into three types: ordinary water reducers, high-efficiency water reducers, and high-performance water reducers. The proportions and methods of operation of these three types are different. Concrete water reducers are mainly composed of surfactants, which belong to anionic surfactants.
Water reducers are concrete admixtures that can reduce the mixing water amount while keeping the concrete slump essentially unchanged. When added to concrete mixes, they have a dispersing effect on cement particles, which can improve workability, reduce the unit water amount, and enhance the fluidity of the concrete mixture; or reduce the unit cement consumption, thereby saving cement.
The main effects of water reducers on cement mixtures include:
Reducing the water amount. The water reduction rate of water reducers is generally between 20% to 40%. That is, to achieve the same fluidity, 20% to 40% less water can be added.
Increasing the fluidity of the slurry to achieve self-leveling after pouring, reducing the occurrence of "bread" in foam concrete production.
Shortening mixing time, accelerating the dispersion of cement in water, and allowing the slurry to be evenly mixed in a short time.
Improving the strength of the hardened cement slurry, generally by 10% to 20%.
Without changing the ratio of various raw materials (except for cement) and the strength of concrete, the amount of cement can be reduced. Adding 0.2% to 0.5% of the cement mass of concrete water reducer can save more than 15% to 30% of cement.
Without changing the ratio of various raw materials (except water) and the slump of concrete, reducing the water amount can enhance the strength of the concrete. It can increase by 20% to 60%. By reducing water, high-strength concrete of C100 grade can be poured.
Without changing the ratio of various raw materials, the rheology and plasticity of concrete can be significantly improved, allowing construction methods such as self-leveling, pumping, and vibration-free to be adopted, thereby increasing construction speed and reducing energy consumption.
Adding concrete water reducer can extend the lifespan of concrete by more than double, meaning the normal lifespan of the building will increase by more than double.
Reducing the shrinkage rate of concrete solidification, preventing cracks in concrete components; improving frost resistance, which is beneficial for winter construction.
This is the last one.
