ART-ZXF is a concrete-crack repair agent jointly developed by the Green Construction Materials & Carbon Utilization Research Center of Southeast University and Jiangsu ARIT New Materials Co., Ltd. Relying on the metabolic activity of embedded microorganisms, it automatically senses fine cracks and initiates timely self-repair, mimicking a biological response. The material can also re-heal if cracking recurs, effectively solving problems of leakage, ion transport, durability loss and visual defects.

Metro station
At a station on Nanjing Metro Line S6, ART-ZXF microbial crack-repair agent was added to the side-wall mix. Cracks 0.5 mm wide were sealed and water leakage stopped.
Ship lock
In the lock chamber of a Yangzhou waterway, ART-ZXF was applied at the joint between base slab and side wall. Fresh cracks were promptly and effectively healed.
Basement wall
Basement side walls at Xiamen Jimei New Town were treated with ART-ZXF, giving good repair of wall cracks.
Underground structure
At a Jiangbei New Area site in Nanjing, ART-ZXF was used on side walls for both crack repair and prevention. Average crack spacing fell 60 %, length 65%, and count 55%. Post-repair ultrasonic velocity exceeded 3km/s , showing a clear gain in structural integrity.

It should be stored in a cool and dry place, avoiding direct sunlight, and kept in a dedicated warehouse or a fixed location.
The effective storage period is 24 months. It can still be used after being tested and verified to be qualified if it exceeds the time limit.
Control vibration time: vibrate only long enough to fully compact the mix and prevent the immobilized microbial repair particles from floating; when full compaction is achieved, vibration may be shortened.
During crack-healing curing, use covers, light misting or fogging; do NOT use membrane, spray-on or brush-on curing compounds that seal the surface and cut off air.
For winter work, maintain the concrete surface at 10 °C–40 °C (insulation, heating mats, etc.) to keep microbial mineralization active and ensure effective crack repair.
