Chaohu-Ma'anshan Intercity Railway

Background

The Chaohu to Ma 'anshan High-Speed Railway, also known as the Chaohu-Ma' anshan Intercity Railway, is a key component of the national 'Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal' high-speed rail network, specifically the Shanghai-Hankou-Rongcheng Express Line between Hefei and Shanghai. The main line is approximately 61 kilometers long, with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. This railway serves as a new high-speed rail link from Anhui to major cities in the Yangtze River Delta, including Shanghai. Upon completion, it will become an essential part of Hefei's' one-hour commuting circle,' significantly accelerating the development of the Anjiang Urban Belt and further reducing the travel time between the Hefei and Nanjing metropolitan areas.

Project challenge

The cast-in-place pumpable C40 ballastless track base slab requires concrete with 'three lows and one high': a low water-to-binder ratio, a low slump (120-160mm), a low air content (2%-3%), and high strength (with a flexural strength of 5.0 MPa and an elastic modulus of 30 GPa). Additionally, the construction process must maintain the slump for 1.5 hours. The challenge is that maintaining the slump for 1.5 hours while ensuring the concrete can still be pumped is extremely demanding, requiring the concrete to have excellent slump retention and cohesion.

Solution from ARIT

The two water reducing original liquors, ART-M13 and ART-M15, are characterized by their rich cement paste, which enhances the cohesiveness of the concrete. The ART-M640 slump retaining original liquor can maintain the slump for approximately 2 to 3 hours. When used in combination, these three products fully meet the design and construction requirements.
