China Railway Construction Engineering Group Hefei West Railway Station Building Project
Hefei West Railway Station is located in Dongxinzhuang, at the intersection of Qianshan North Road and Qingxi Road in Shushan District, Hefei, Anhui Province, China. It sits adjacent to Hefei Botanical Garden and Dongpu Reservoir, covers a designed floor area of 80,000 m² and ranks as the second-largest passenger station in the Hefei rail hub. The yard is arranged with 9 arrival-departure tracks (including main lines) for the Hefei–Anqing field and 4 arrival-departure tracks (including main lines) for the Hefei–Fuzhou field, giving a total of 13 tracks and a station layout of 8 platforms with 18 tracks.
The station, a top-tier (special-class) facility, is administered by China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd. and serves as a national-level integrated transport node. Northward it links into the Hefei hub and connects with the Shanghai–Wuhan–Chengdu, Hefei–Bengbu, Yangtze River High-speed, Hefei–Fuzhou, Hefei–Jiujiang high-speed and Shangqiu–Hefei–Hangzhou passenger lines; centrally it interfaces with the Hefei–Kangding high-speed, Nanjing–Anqing intercity, Fuyang–Liuan and Liuan–Jingdezhen railways. The 80,000 m² station building comprises three underground and three above-ground levels. Designed under the concept “Great Lake Cloud Sail · Tech Ark,” its roof features a central skylight and photovoltaic panels that integrate green energy-saving technologies. The east plaza converges Metro Lines 3, 10 and S1, while the west plaza provides car and non-motorized vehicle parking.
The C35 anti-collision flower beds outside the Hefei West Railway Station building, constructed by China Railway Construction Engineering, show dense surface blow-holes; after vibration a thick layer of laitance appeared.
The project demands fair-faced concrete: the surface must be smooth and largely free of air voids. In addition, no thick laitance layer is allowed after vibration, and the finished pier surface must show no obvious water marks.
1. The concrete mix is too viscous—add a viscosity-reducing admixture (VR original liquor) to lower stickiness.
2. To keep the mix cohesive and resistant to segregation under prolonged vibration, incorporate a thickening/thixotropy-enhancing original liquor.
3. The current air-entraining agent / defoamer pairing is unbalanced; trial different combinations of defoamers and air-entrainers to optimize the air-void system.
