Nanjing Xinshengwei Yangtze River Bridge Project

Figure 1 Appearance of The Nanjing Xinshengwei Yangtze River Bridge
The Nanjing Xinshengwei Yangtze River Bridge (Xianxin Road River Crossing Passage), currently the longest single-span steel-box-girder suspension bridge in China and the third longest in the world, stretches 13.17 km in total. With a main span of 1,760 m and towers rising 263.8 m, it marks another milestone in Nanjing’s bridge-building history. After its opening, the journey between downtown Nanjing and the Jiangbei New Area will drop from one hour to under ten minutes, significantly upgrading the city’s capacity to cross the Yangtze’s main channel and completing the regional road network.
During the construction of the 263.8-meter-tall north main tower, concrete pumping became a critical challenge.

To counteract seasonal climate effects, ARIT optimized the concrete mix—boosting strength, lowering heat of hydration, markedly improving workability and durability—sharply reducing the risk of pump blockages and ensuring smooth vertical placement. An ARIT technical team was embedded on-site for the entire span of the Xinshengwei Bridge project, providing full-time service and process monitoring to keep concrete performance consistently at its peak. From pile foundations to main-tower capping, ARIT stayed “customer-centric,” safeguarding every phase of the works and helping drive the bridge’s safe, efficient progress.
