Background

The Yongning Beam Yard of China Railway Shanghai Bureau Group Co., Ltd. is the prefabricated beam plant for the Nanjing Hub Station of Shanghai-Chongqing-Rongcheng High-speed Railway. Some box beams at the project site have developed significant color differences and holes on their surfaces due to mold corrosion or release agent issues, severely affecting the overall appearance. Therefore, surface repairs are required.

Project challenge

On-site requirement: After the repair, the surface should be semi-transparent, allowing the concrete base color to show through. Spray the entire box girder to check the effect.

Solution from ARIT

First, spray the special sealing primer onto the surface, then roll the closed primer evenly with a roller to ensure uniform coverage. Allow the surface to dry before proceeding to the next step. A waiting time of 5 hours is recommended for indoor construction, and 3 hours for outdoor construction.

Use special tinting materials that are pre-mixed on-site to closely match the color of the surrounding pier concrete. When using ready-mixed tinting materials, spray them onto the concrete surface first, then roll the closed primer evenly with a roller to finish. Once the surface is dry, the construction is complete; the original concrete color will become visible after approximately 3 hours of outdoor exposure.
